Zappnin Black formed in the summer of 2000 after Tommy invited Donnie to join him and Johnny's project formerly called Black Creek. Donnie and Tommy had prior history together that dated all the way back to their high school in 1987. So there was a lot of familiarity with each other and a desire to rock the world.

After months of heavy duty rehearsal and songwriting, Johnny booked the band for a weekend into the legendary Greenhouse Studios (Queensrÿche, Nickelback, Sarah McLachlan). Upon completion a self-titled Zappnin Black CD was released, and to the stages of western Canada they took. Zappnin Black has toured up and down the westcoast of America, shared a bill with April Wine, and headlined The Whisky A-Go-Go.

Returning from a 2006 hiatus, the Brothers Black reunited for a trifecta of shows during the summer of 2018. Then after a two year lockdown they booked their second appearance at Hollywoood's Whisky A-Go-Go.

They're looking foward to setting stages alight again in 2023. Sky's the limit!!
